Hey everyone,
I've been on Pinterest for about two months now, mostly for a small side project, and I'm hitting a wall. I'm pinning consistently (around 5–7 pins a day), my pin designs look decent, but impressions are really low and almost nothing is getting saved.
From what I've read, Pinterest works more like a search engine than a social network, so keywords seem to be the whole game. The problem is I have no idea where to start. I've been doing this:
- Typing my topic into the Pinterest search bar and copying the autocomplete suggestions
- Adding a few of those to my pin titles and descriptions
- Hoping for the best
It feels very random. Some questions for people who've figured this out:
- Where do you actually put keywords? Just the title and description, or also board names, alt text, and the text overlay on the image?
- How many keywords is too many? I don't want to stuff the description and look spammy.
- Do you target broad terms or long-tail phrases? My gut says long-tail is easier for a new account, but I'm not sure.
- How long before you see results? I keep hearing Pinterest is a slow burn.
I did find a decent walkthrough on Pinterest keywords for beginners that explained the basics of researching terms and where to place them. It helped clear up some of my confusion, but I'd love to hear what's working in practice rather than just theory.
What does your keyword process look like? Any tools, habits, or mistakes you wish you'd avoided early on? Thanks in advance!
