So I've got a 2016 Cadillac CTS and overall it's been a really solid car, comfortable ride, plenty of power, and I love the way it looks, but there's one issue that's been driving me absolutely crazy for the past few months and I'm finally at the point where I need to figure out what to do about it. The CUE infotainment screen has started developing this weird spiderweb cracking pattern on the surface, almost like the glass is delaminating from the touchscreen underneath, and it's getting worse by the week. At first it was just a small spot in the corner that I could barely notice, but now it's spread to cover maybe a third of the screen and it's making it really difficult to see the display clearly, especially in bright sunlight. What's worse is that the touchscreen responsiveness has started to suffer too – sometimes I have to tap things multiple times before it registers, and other times it seems to register touches that I didn't even make, like the screen is ghosting or something. I've been reading up on this and apparently it's a known issue with these screens, something about the adhesive they used between the layers breaking down over time, and I've seen countless posts from other Cadillac owners dealing with the exact same problem. Some people said they just learned to live with it, others had the screen replaced under warranty if they were lucky enough to catch it in time, and a few brave souls even tried the DIY repair kits that supposedly fix the delamination without replacing the whole unit. I'm leaning toward getting it professionally replaced because I don't trust myself to do a good job with a DIY solution on something this delicate, and honestly I just want it fixed properly so I can stop being annoyed every time I get in the car. I really like this car and I plan to keep it for a while, so I want it to look and function as good as possible, but I also don't want to throw money at something if there's a cheaper solution that works just as well.
