Granny is a first-person survival horror game from DVloper, and it's been creeping people out since 2017. You wake up in some dark house with a pounding headache, no memory of how you got there, and the realization that you've got five days to get out before things go from bad to worse.
How to play Granny
The thing that sets Granny apart from your typical horror game isn't blood or monsters — it's sound. You're stuck in the house of an old lady who's supposedly deaf, but her hearing is scary good. Drop a key, slam a door, step on the wrong floorboard, and she'll come running straight to you like she's got radar.
The rule of Granny is simple: go slow, keep your eyes open, and use every hiding spot you can find — wardrobes, under beds, wherever. But here's the catch: if she catches you climbing into a hiding spot, she won't just walk away. She'll stand there waiting for you to come out.
Your whole goal in Granny is to round up the items you need to unlock the exit, and they're placed randomly every single run. No memorizing routes, no speedrun tricks from memory — you've actually got to search every room like it's your first time in the house.
Some items you'll need in Granny include the Winch Handle for the well in the backyard, the Padlock Code and Battery for the Main Door, the Remote Control for the closet under the stairs, the Cogwheels for the safe in the Playhouse, and the Wrench, Car Engine, Spark Plug, and Car Battery if you want to escape by car.
You can also mess with Granny using noise. Make a racket in one room, then sneak off to another to crack open boxes or pick locks. Her ears are sharp, but her brain isn't — she falls for the same distraction over and over.
Knowing where to drop stuff in Granny matters more than you'd think. Soft spots like sofas, cupboards, desks, shelves, and grass will swallow the sound. Hard floors? That's basically ringing a dinner bell.
If Granny spots you, don't freeze up — you can actually outrun her on most difficulties, and slamming doors behind you buys you time. Just don't let yourself get trapped in a corner, because that's game over.
Every time Granny grabs you or you step in one of her bear traps, you lose a whole day and wake up the next evening back in bed. Five days total, so every screw-up hurts.
Recent Granny updates have added achievements, better graphics with handcrafted assets, a more relaxed Practice Mode, item highlights in dark rooms, and multiple escape routes so you're not stuck doing the same thing every run.
