8.1 INTRODUCTION

JavaScript is the programming language that facilitates web pages to interact with client. It presents a page more interactive and dynamic. It was formed in 1995 for web-based programming and today it also runs on your phone applications.
This script was invented by Brendan Eich in 1995, and became an ECMA (European Computer Manufacturers Association) standard in 1997. Initially JavaScript was named as “LiveScript”, but Netscape Corporation changed its name to JavaScript, possibly because of the excitement being generated by Java. JavaScript was introduced on Netscape 2.0 in 1995 with the name “LiveScript”.

Features of JavaScript
• JavaScript is a lightweight programming language.
• JavaScript is an Interpreted programming language. 
• It is designed to create networking centred applications. 
• It is complimentary to and integrated with Java. 
• JavaScript is very easy to implement because it is integrated with HTML. 
• It is cross-platform and open.
