Software is a way to communicate with the blind hardware of the computer system. It consists of all the instructions that tell the hardware how to perform a task. Software is developed through a programming language. Software, commonly known as programs or apps can be broadly divided into two categories-
(i) System Software and (ii) Application software.
System software helps to run the computer hardware and computer system itself. System software includes operating systems, device drivers, diagnostic tools, and more. An operating system is a type of system software that manages the hardware and creates the interface between the hardware and the user.
Application software allows users to accomplish one or more tasks. It is meant to perform several tasks for the user including word processing, web browsing, and other task which require installation of the software. Applications software are designed and developed as per the users/customers requirements.
