Advantages of Computer-
• A computer is free from tiredness and fatigue. Complex and repetitive work can be done easily, quickly and accurately.
• It saves a lot precious time and labor.
• Computer provides effective control on human mistakes, omissions and commission. In certain cases computer also makes auto-correction of mistakes.
• Computers help in storing large volumes of data. The information can be stored for a number of years and can be retrieved as and when required.
• Analysis on complicated data can be performed easily and quickly. Different statistical packages are available in market that considerably reduces the efforts and time in doing analysis on raw data.
• Use of internet has made resource sharing possible and easy. People can share their ideas, opinions, research work and other information on internet.
Disadvantages of Computer-
• Computers are only machines that work only in accordance of the instructions and directions provided to them by the human (programmers).
• Computers have no IQ. They simply work on Garbage in and Garbage out (GIGO) rule that i.e. the accuracy of the results will be possible only when the input and the instructions are correct.
• Computers need special purpose software to perform specialized task. Like
• Data handling through computers is prone to the loss of information and data tampering.
• Computers do not have any decision making or creative abilities. They cannot create anything on their own neither they can decide what is to be done in a particular situation.
